Blogging 101 for Busy People

People are now becoming more interested in blogging. Either way, they want to build one for business or just for fun. Each day, thousands of new blog sites are born and published in various web hosting companies. Building a blog is one of the workarounds. Managing and creating articles is another one. I know that most of us have a busy schedule. And building and managing your own blog may be another workload for you that you may seem that it would not fit anymore in your schedule. You are willing, but the schedule is blocking your way from doing it. Is it a dead end for you? No, it’s not. A famous saying says “if there’s a will, there’s a way”. You have the will, then here are the ways how.

Take time to plan what type of blog or website are you going to build.

Whatever the reason might be, spend some time to think and plan about what type of blog that you are going to build. It is a crucial step because who doesn’t want to be messed up in the middle and in the end, may decide to turn down the blog. Before building a blog, answer these questions first:

  • What is the niche of your blog?
  • What is the goal of your blog? For business or just for fun/hobby?
  • Who are your target audiences?
  • Are you planning to host your blog? What platform are you going to use? Are you going to self-host it or not?
  • How do you want your blog to look like?
  • Are you planning to monetize it or not?

These are some question you can consider which is really crucial if you are just a starter from blogging or creating a website. If you don’t have any idea about it, read things to know when building a blog. Now that you properly planned everything in setting up, another important thing needs to be focused on after – publishing articles or post.

A blog will never be alive if there aren’t any articles in it. But the problem is, you’re busy. Now, let’s dive in on these simple steps to manage your blog despite your busy schedule.

Schedule it on your planner

It is really important to a lot some time on managing your blog. If you are planning to monetize your blog but you don’t want someone to do the work for you, you must not only a lot at least a couple of minutes for this in your schedule but at least few hours or so. Include in your schedule on how much of your time you want to spend on researching, creating content etc.

Research is the key

Research is important. If you want to create a good content for your blog, you want to spend most of your time on researching. Take time to skim on Google Trends to look for trending searches that are related to your blog niche. Research is also part of your brainstorming to create wonderful content. I would say that you should a lot more time for this part. Why? Users don’t want to read useless content. They want something that is informative and really helpful for them. While researching, you might want to do this as well which will be discussed next.

Jot it down

Whenever an idea that pops out in your mind that is related to your niche, write it down. Do not ever miss those ideas. Use a separate notebook for all of your ideas or use a note-taking app which is really easy to use.

Set a target

Setting a target for your blog is also a must. Why? Because this gives your blog a direction. If your blog already builds a following, your readers might expect a that your blog will post from time to time. By setting up a target, you can plan what posts that you want to post and when you are going to post it. Set also a target timeframe on to finish one article for your blog.

Organize and prepare

Organize on how you are going to finish each article you create and prepare all the tools that you might need when you are going to create one. Being organized tends you to be more focused on creating your article. If your target to finish one article is for about an hour, get your tools ready and also additional resources such as pictures, video etc. ready. That’s why scheduling needs to be done first.

Sort and Publish

After everything is done, you are going to publish your article. It is much better if before posting your article, you created different categories for your blog so that you can organize your content on each different topic or category. But what if you’re done but you don’t want to post your article on that the same date? Not a problem – you can schedule it in your blog because they made it built-in in their word editor (either WordPress or Blogger). Both these platforms have these for you to schedule your post conveniently.

A busy schedule should not hinder us from doing things outside the box like blogging. There are plenty of ways on how to do so and I bet you can.
